Upholstery Cleaning

Our upholstery cleaning service at Refresh and Revive follows a detailed process to ensure your furniture is thoroughly cleaned and refreshed. Here's how our service works: 1. Pre-Inspection: We begin by inspecting your upholstery items to identify the fabric type and any particular areas that require special attention. This step helps us determine the most effective cleaning method and solutions to use. 2. Pre-Treatment: Depending on the type and condition of the upholstery, we apply a specific pre-treatment solution to break down dirt and stains. This step is crucial for loosening tough stains and preparing the fabric for cleaning. 3. Cleaning: We primarily use the hot water extraction method for upholstery cleaning, which involves injecting hot water and a safe cleaning solution into the upholstery fibres. The solution and any dissolved dirt are then extracted using powerful suction, which not only cleans but also helps to minimise drying time. 4. Stain Treatment: For tougher stains, we apply targeted treatments that are specifically formulated for different types of stains, ensuring they are treated effectively without damaging the fabric. 5. Drying: Although the hot water extraction method leaves the upholstery mostly dry, we often use high-speed air movers to help accelerate the drying process. Generally, your upholstery will be dry and ready to use within a few hours. We take great care to use cleaning solutions that are safe for your upholstery and your home environment. If you have specific cleaning requirements or concerns, please don't hesitate to discuss them with us. We're here to help and ensure you receive the best possible service.

At Refresh and Revive, we are equipped to clean a wide range of upholstery materials, ensuring each type is treated with the utmost care and appropriate cleaning techniques. Here are some of the common upholstery materials we can clean: 1. Natural Fibres: This includes cotton, linen, wool, and silk. These materials require specific cleaning methods and products to avoid damage and shrinkage. 2. Synthetic Fibres: These include polyester, nylon, and acrylic. They are generally more durable and can be cleaned using a variety of techniques, including our standard hot water extraction method. 3. Leather: We offer specialised cleaning and conditioning services for leather upholstery to help maintain its look, feel, and longevity. 4. Mixed Fabric Blends: Many upholstery items are made from a blend of natural and synthetic fibres. We carefully assess the composition of the material to determine the safest and most effective cleaning approach. 5. Microfibre: Known for its durability and stain resistance, microfibre can be cleaned effectively with our equipment, ensuring deep cleaning without compromising the fabric’s integrity. Before we begin any cleaning process, we conduct a thorough inspection to identify the type of material and any specific cleaning requirements it may have. This ensures that we use the most appropriate cleaning solutions and methods, avoiding any potential harm to the fabric. If you have upholstery with unusual or delicate fabrics, please let us know so we can discuss the best possible cleaning approach. Our aim is to provide a thorough cleaning while preserving the quality and appearance of your upholstery.

The duration of the upholstery cleaning process depends on several factors, including the size of the upholstery items, the type of fabric, and the extent of soiling. At Refresh and Revive, here's a general guideline on how long the process might take: 1. Small items such as dining chairs or small ottomans typically take about 15 to 30 minutes each. 2. Medium items like armchairs or office chairs usually require about 30 to 60 minutes. 3. Large items such as sofas or sectional pieces can take 60 to 90 minutes per section. These times are estimates and can vary depending on the specific conditions of the upholstery and any additional treatments that may be required, such as stain removal or applying protective treatments. After the cleaning, the drying time can range from a few hours to overnight, depending on the type of fabric, the cleaning method used, and environmental factors like humidity and temperature. We use high-speed air movers to help accelerate the drying process where necessary. We aim to conduct the cleaning as efficiently as possible while ensuring thorough care and attention to detail. If you have specific time constraints or need the upholstery ready by a particular time, please let us know in advance so we can accommodate your schedule.

It's advisable to have your upholstery professionally cleaned approximately every 12 to 18 months. This guideline serves as a general rule for average households. However, the actual frequency can depend on several factors, such as the amount of use the furniture receives and whether the environment includes children, pets, or smokers. Homes with higher exposure to dirt and spills may require more frequent cleanings to maintain the upholstery's appearance and hygiene. For those with allergies or respiratory concerns, more regular upholstery cleaning, perhaps every 6 to 9 months, can be beneficial. This helps in reducing allergens like dust mites and pet dander that tend to accumulate in the fabric of furniture. Additionally, immediate attention to spills and regular vacuuming can extend the periods between professional cleanings, ultimately preserving the life and look of your upholstery while ensuring a cleaner, healthier living space.
